Princess Kate Hospitalized for Surgery, According to Palace
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, better known as Princess Kate, is currently in the hospital recovering from abdominal surgery.
The palace didn’t specify the surgery, but it did report that Princess Catherine’s surgery was absolutely planned. And just days later, the palace announced that King Charles is also headed under the knife this week.
The Details of Princess Kate’s Hospital Stay
According to Kensington Palace, the official home of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Kate underwent abdominal surgery at The London Clinic. The royals almost always go for medical attention.

They did not specify the kind of surgery the princess underwent, but the palace did report that the “surgery was successful” (via MSN).
How Long Will Princess Kate Be in the Hospital?
The announcement also noted that the Princess of Wales will stay at The London Clinic for 14 days.

Though it will likely be far longer before the young royal will be attending functions or even social engagements.
What Kind of Surgery Did Princess Kate Likely Get?
Although it’s complete speculation, some people wonder if Princess Catherine’s abdominal surgery had something to do with complications she experienced during her three pregnancies.

It is widely known that the princess struggled with hyperemesis gravidarum while she was pregnant, which resulted in severe nausea. But the truth is that no one outside the royal family actually knows why the surgery was necessary.
Princess Kate Is Young and Healthy
The Princess of Wales is certainly one of the most athletic members of the royal family; she is constantly playing sports such as hockey and tennis at charity events and with friends.

So although Princess Catherine’s abdominal surgery is making headlines, the majority of her admirers aren’t worried about her health and know that she will be back on the courts in no time.
Princess Kate’s Social Engagements Are on Hold
The princess also plans to take several weeks off from any and all social engagements. In fact, Kensington Palace wrote that she is “unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

Sadly, that means that Princess Catherine had to cancel quite a few existing engagements she had on her schedule, but she “looks forward to reinstating as many [engagements] as possible, as soon as possible.”
King Charles III Is Also Heading to the Hospital
Only days after the announcement about Princess Catherine’s surgery, Buckingham Palace made its own statement.

King Charles III will also be heading into the hospital for a standard procedure to reduce his enlarged prostate.
Buckingham Palace Says There’s Nothing to Worry About
Buckingham Palace wrote in its statement, “In common with thousands of men each year, the king has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His Majesty’s condition is benign, and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.”

The announcement also noted that the king will be postponing his commitments “for a short period of recuperation.”
Some People Are Worried About King Charles
Although most people aren’t worried about Princess Catherine, things are a little different for King Charles, who is 75 years old.

While His Majesty appears to be in good health, other than the quite common enlarged prostate, because of his advanced age, there is certainly more concern surrounding the procedure.
Neither Issue is Cancer Related
Both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have reported that neither the king nor the princess’ procedures are cancer-related.

In general, both statements made it exceptionally clear that neither royal’s life is in any way in danger and that they should both be fully recovered in a matter of weeks.
Princess Kate Requests Privacy at This Time
The Kensington Palace statement also mentioned that Princess Catherine “hopes the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

But because it’s nearly impossible for any member of the royal family to maintain any level of privacy while outside of the palace walls, it’s likely that the princess will spend the next several weeks at home with her family.
Princess Kate Will Be Absolutely Fine
As the Princess of Wales is already out of surgery and recuperating under the care of some of the country’s best physicians, it’s almost certain that she will make a full recovery in no time.
